“The Lord is a God near at hand, and ready to deliver his people.  Is it not delightful to think that we cry not to God across the ocean, for he is here?  Our God is “The LORD in the midst of thee.”  Since that bright night in which a babe was born at Bethlehem, and unto us a Son was given, we know God as “Immanuel, God with us.”  God in our nature, and therefore very near unto us.  “The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”   Charles Haddon Spurgeon
