BRIEF HISTORY OF PROSPERITY

1789 Founded by several families from the Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church.

1790 Became a charter member of the Carolina Presbytery of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

1793 Purchased present site as a land grant from Gov. Spaight: 10 acres for 7 ½ cents an acre!

1842 First wooden meeting house replaced original log house.

1877 Old building falls in a snowstorm and is replaced by a frame building.

1970 Frame building burns on Christmas Eve and is replaced by present structure.

1981 Transferred from the ARP Church to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

1988 Built the Family Fellowship Facility.

2015 I-485 opened around the church.

2019 Celebrating 230 years of fellowship in the Charlotte community.
